From the A27 eastbound (Southampton/Portsmouth):
At the roundabout with the A259, turn left for Chichester
Continue to the third roundabout and turn left
Proceed over a further roundabout and at the next (large) roundabout, take the third exit into Oaklands Way
Turn left at the next roundabout onto Spitalfield Lane
Hospital Entrances 1 and 2 are on the left and signposted

From the A27 westbound (Brighton/Worthing):

At the large roundabout with the A285, take the second exit to join the A285 for Chichester
At the next roundabout, take the first exit to remain on
the A285, Westhampnett Road
Continue over a mini roundabout and at the next mini roundabout, take the second exit onto Spitalfield Lane
Hospital Entrances 1 and 2 are on the right and signposted.

Hooklands

Parking

You will receive a ticket at the barrier on entry and should pay at the pay station before returning to your car. The ticket returned to you at the pay station can then be used to open the exit barrier on leaving.
Car park pay stations give change and have an intercom if you need help.
Charges are as follows:

£1.60 for up to one hour
£2.60 for 1-2 hours
£3.50 for 2-3 hours
£4.00 for 3-4 hours
£6.00 for over 4 hours

If you have an appointment at the hospital and are unable to find a parking space, please ask one of our parking wardens to help.

Do not park in the roadways as they are used by buses, lorries and emergency services. Clamping is in operation at all times.

In the event of a patient being admitted to hospital for a period in excess of 14 days the next of kin or a nominated visitor will be offered reduced parking costs of a maximum rate of one hour charge/visit for any further visits at St Richard’s Hospital. Please ask the Ward Manager for more information

Bus

St Richard’s Hospital is served by the number 55 bus service, which runs between Chichester city centre and Tangmere, and stops in Spitalfield Lane.

This service is operated by Stagecoach South and runs every half hour during the day. There is no service on Sundays.

Train

Trains run to and from:

Worthing, Littlehampton and Brighton to the east
Havant, Portsmouth and Southampton to the west
Horsham, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria to the north

Local trains run approximately every 20 minutes.

Bicycle

Bicycle parking facilities at St Richard’s Hospital are situated outside the Accident and Emergency department, to the west of the main hospital entrance.
Chichester is on the National Cycle Network Route 2, which is signposted between Fishbourne to the west and Hunston to the south, and which goes on to Bognor Regis and Worthing along the coast.

The villages of Bosham and Fishbourne to the west, Hunston and Donnington to the south, Tangmere and Westhampnett to the east, and Lavant and West Dean to the north all have good cycle routes into the centre of Chichester.

Bognor Regis, five miles to the south east, is linked to Chichester by a good, predominantly traffic-free cycle route, which includes a bridge over the A27.

Refreshments

The Terrace restaurant, on the first floor of the main hospital building, offers a full range of hot and cold snacks, breakfasts and main meals, as well as a salad bar, fast food call order bar and coffee deli bar service.

It is open from 8am to 7.30pm, seven days a week.

Breakfast is served between 8am and 11.15am.
Lunch is served between 11.45am and 2.30pm.
Supper menu between 5pm and 7.30pm.
The WRVS Pantry in main reception offers light snacks, tea and coffee.

It is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
The WRVS Tea Bar in the outpatients department serves light snacks and tea and coffee.

It is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Cash Machine

This is located in the hospital’s main reception, next to the shop.

Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice Bureau offers its unique, free service of advice, problem solving and support from an outreach office at St Richard’s Hospital.

The service is available every Wednesday from 1.30 to 4pm in a room near the hospital’s main reception.

Hospital Radio

Chichester Hospital Radio broadcasts all day, every day on channel 11 of the bedside entertainment system and on 1431AM across the St Richard’s Hospital site.

Interpreter

For patients for whom English is not a first language, the Trust can provide interpreting services either face-to-face or over the telephone.
