Visiting

Visiting times for the hospital are from 2:00pm – 3:30pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

Visiting times do not apply to children’s wards, the maternity unit or areas that care for seriously-ill patients (such as the Critical Care Unit/Coronary Care)

A guide to visiting patients can be found at all ward entrances.

Parking

Please note that car parking is limited on the hospital site and the roads immediately adjacent.

The hospital has two entrances located on Combe Park Road – the main entrance and the emergency department entrance.

DISABLED PARKING

Free parking is available for blue badge holders close to the main entrance and in designated spaces. If these are full, you can park in any of the pay and display car parks also free of charge when you display your blue badge.

Normal charges apply when parking in barrier car parks on site.

PAY AND DISPLAY

These parking areas are not barrier controlled.

The Pay and Display pay stations only accepts coins: £2, £1, 50p, 20p and 10p. Pay before you leave the vehicle and display your ticket in the window of your car.

No change is given

A ticket valid for 5 days will automatically be issued if you insert coins to the value of £10

PAY ON EXIT

Collect a ticket at the entrance barrier. Take the ticket with you and when you are ready to leave pay at one of the pay stations before returning to your car

Pay stations are situated in the Atrium (Main), Princess Anne Wing, Discharge Lounge and next to the Orange Car Park (next to the Education Centre). These pay stations:

Please Note:

If you park for more than 8 hours the charge is £10 but a 5 day ticket will not automatically be issued.

If you need to return to the RUH within 5 days, please get a 5-day ticket from reception before paying at the pay station.

The following Park & Ride services to the city centre run every 15 minutes and are operated by First Group under contract to Bath & North East Somerset Council:

Park and Ride

Park and Ride: Direct Service to the RUH

Service 42 from Odd Down Park and Ride site to the Royal United Hospital and runs from 6.40am to 7pm Monday to Friday. This service operates every 30 minutes between 7am and 5pm .

The journey from Odd Down Park & Ride site to the RUH takes approximately 20 minutes.

Children under 16 travel free when accompanied by an adult – maximum of 5 children per adult.

Park and Ride: Services to Bath City Centre

Service 21: Newbridge (A4 from Bristol) runs from 6.15am-8.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Service 31: Lansdown (on A46 & A420 approach) runs from 6.15am-8.30pm, Monday to Saturday

Service 41: Odd Down (reaached from A367 & B3110) runs from 6.15am-8.30pm, Monday to Saturday

The cost of an Adult Return fare is £2.50, or a multi-trip ticket comprising of 10 single trips that can be used at any time is £11.00. Children under 16 travel free when accompanied by an adult – maximum of 5 children per adult.

The following Park & Ride service to the city centre runs every 15 minutes and is operated by First Group in conjunction with the University of Bath.

Service 19: Bath University, Claverton Down (reached from A36 & B3108) runs from 8.30am-6.30pm on Saturdays only.

By Bus

The nearest bus station is adjacent to the Bath Spa railway station in the city centre, approximately 1.5 miles away.

Service 14 / 714 – Odd Down, Bear Flat, Bus Station – Dorchester Street, Royal United Hospital, Weston Village (every 10 minutes). Stops in the hospital grounds.

Service 20A – Bus station, Weston, Royal United Hospital, Twerton, Whiteway, Combe Down, University of Bath, Bus Station (hourly from 9.30am). Most journeys stop in the hospital grounds.

Service 20C – Bus Station, University of Bath, Combe Down, Whiteway, Twerton, Royal United Hospital, Weston, Bus Station (hourly from 8am). Most journeys stop in the Hospital Grounds.

Service 17 – Weston, Penn Lea Road, bus station, Moorlands, Kingsway, (every 30 minutes). Stops close to the hospital on Newbridge Road and Penn Hill Road.

Connect2 Wiltshire (previously known as the Wiltshire Hopper)

If you live in Wiltshire, you can book a seat in advance and travel to the Royal United Hospital on the Connect 2 Wiltshire buses.

This door-to-door return bus service runs every hour from 07:20am-05:30pm, Monday to Friday, if you would like to book a seat or find out whether you live in the area served by the Connect2 RUH service, please ring 08456 525255 Option 2.

If you need to change your return journey home, during your visit to the hospital, simply dial 1444 from any hospital extension, just ask a member of staff.

By Train

The Friends Shop can be found in the main entrance to the RUH.

It sells newspapers and magazines, cards, sweets, toiletries, gifts and much more.

The shop is staffed by volunteers from Friends of the RUH and its opening hours are:

Saturday 9.30am – 6pm
Sunday 1.30pm – 4.30 pm
