Buses

St Richard’s Hospital is served by the number 55 bus service which runs between Chichester and Tangmere.

The stop for the hospital is in Spitalfield Lane.

Trains

St Richard’s Hospital is a 20-minute walk from Chichester Railway Station or around 10 minutes by taxi or the number 55 bus.

Parking

Car parking charges are as follows:

  • £1.60 for up to one hour
  • £2.60 for 1-2 hours
  • £3.50 for 2-3 hours
  • £4.00 for 3-4 hours
  • £6.00 for 4-24 hours

Charges apply at all times of day and night.

Stays of more than 24 hours are charged at the 24-hour fee plus the number of additional hours above that – so 25 hours costs £7.60 (£6.00 + £1.60) etc.

You will receive a ticket at the barrier on entry and should pay at the pay station before returning to your car. The ticket returned to you at the pay station can then be used to open the exit barrier on leaving.

Car park pay stations give change and have an intercom if you need help.

The Terrace Restaurant

You will find the Terrace Restaurant on the first floor of the main St Richard’s Hospital building, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner between 7.15am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30am-7.00pm Saturday and Sunday.

The Terrace has a salad bar, delicatessen and coffee bar, and offers a full range of hot and cold snacks throughout the day.

Cloisters Café

Cloisters Café is in St Richard’s main reception and opens from 9.30am until 4.30pm Monday to Friday. It serves hot and cold light snacks, coffee, tea and cold drinks.

WRVS Tea Bar

The tea bar is located on the ground floor of the outpatients department and is open from 9.30am-5.00pm Monday to Friday. It offers light snacks, tea, coffee and cold drinks.

Shop

The Friends of Chichester Hospitals shop is located in main reception and opens from 9.30am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday and 11.00am until 5.00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The shop is run entirely by volunteers, who sell newspapers, cards, magazines, sandwiches, fruit, soft toys and gifts, cold drinks, cosmetics and sweets.

Baby changing facilities

Facilities for changing babies at St Richard’s Hospital can be found in main reception, Accident and Emergency, Outpatients and the Women and Children’s Unit.

Breast feeding

Breast feeding is welcome anywhere in the Trust. If a visitor needs to breast feed their baby in private, there is a breast feeding room in main reception.

Cash machine

A cash machine is located in main reception, next to the Friends’ shop.

Chapel

The St Richard’s Hospital chapel is found on the main building’s ground floor and is open 24 hours a day for quiet reflection.

Parking

Southlands Hospital has a pay-and-display car park. There is also a drop-off and pick-up point which offers free waiting for up to 20 minutes.

Parking charges are as follows:

8am-8pm:

  • Up to 1 hour: £1.30
  • Up to 2 hours: £2.60
  • Up to 3 hours: £3.50
  • Up to 4 hours: £4.70
  • 24 hours: £7.60

Overnight (8pm-8am): £2.00

Seven-day ticket for patients and visitors: £22.00

The payment machines accept 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins.

Buses

Southlands Hospital is served by two bus stops – one on the Upper Shoreham Road and the other outside the entrance in Hammy Lane.

The number 2 and 2A services run by Brighton and Hove Buses call at both stops, while the 59 runs along the Upper Shoreham Road only.

The Stagecoach South number 9 service and the Compass Travel 19 service also stop on the Upper Shoreham Road only.

Trains

Southlands Hospital is a 20-minute walk from Shoreham-by-Sea station.

Most services to and from Shoreham are provided by Southern Railway and South West Trains

Facilities

Southlands Hospital has a tea bar and shop available to patients and visitors. They are located at the Hammy Lane entrance, opposite outpatients reception.

Parking

Worthing Hospital’s town centre location and the operation of a residents’ parking scheme in the surrounding streets means car parking space is very limited.

The main hospital car park is open 24 hours a day and has spaces reserved for blue badge holders. There is another car park at the rear of the site for people visiting the breast screening unit.

  • Up to 15 minutes free
  • Up to 1 hour: £1.30
  • Up to 2 hours: £2.30

The Shoreline Restaurant

The Shoreline Restaurant is on the first floor of Worthing Hospital’s South Wing and is open daily from 7.30 am until 7.30 pm (last service 7.15 pm), seven days a week.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and supper, and has a salad bar, delicatessen and coffee bar. The Shoreline offers a full range of hot and cold snacks throughout the day.

  • Breakfast is served between 8.00 am and 11.15 am
  • Lunch is served between 11.45 am and 2.30 pm
  • Supper menu is available between 5.00 pm and 7.30 pm

The League of Friends Cafe and Tea Bar

The League of Friends Cafe is situated in main reception at Worthing Hospital and is open from 9.00 am until 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. It serves hot and cold light snacks, coffee, tea and cold drinks.

The Friends also run a tea bar at the entrance to the hospital’s North Wing, between the physiotherapy and pathology departments. It opens from 9.00 am until 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Shop

The League of Friends shop, in Worthing Hospital’s main reception, is open from 9.00 am until 7.30 pm, Monday to Friday, and 9.00 am until 5.30 pm on Saturdays.
